Dr. Lesley Wiart is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Department of Physical Therapy in the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Alberta. Her research interests are focused on evaluation of pediatric rehabilitation interventions and service delivery, particularly related to community participation and inclusion, functional mobility, rehabilitation goal setting processes, and how family experiences can inform the design, delivery and evaluation of rehabilitation services. She is currently co-leading a multi-site, randomized controlled trial in collaboration with the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital, Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, and Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago to evaluate the effectiveness of robotic gait training for children with cerebral palsy. In addition, this study will explore families’ experiences with gait-focused physical therapy and the values and experiences that inform their rehabilitation goals.
