BIOGRAPHY

Jean-Sébastien Joyal is a clinician-scientist and pediatric critical care physician at CHU Sainte-Justine. He is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Montreal and an Adjunct Professor of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at McGill University. His research interests include neurovascular guidance and the role of neuronal energy metabolism in angiogenesis, using the eye as a model. Dr. Joyal obtained his M.D. and Ph.D. from McGill University. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School with Dr. Lois Smith. Dr. Joyal is the recipient of a prestigious Career Awards for Medical Scientists of the Burroughs Wellcome Fund, and his research is supported by NSERC and CIHR grants.

Jean-Sébastien Joyal est clinicien-chercheur et pédiatre-intensiviste au CHU Sainte-Justine. Il est Professeur agrégé de Pédiatrie à l'Université de Montréal et Professeur auxiliaire de Pharmacologie et de Thérapeutique à l'Université McGill. Ses recherches portent sur la guidance neurovasculaire et le rôle du métabolisme énergétique neuronal dans l'angiogenèse, utilisant l'œil comme modèle. Dr. Joyal a obtenu son doctorat en médecine et son Ph.D. en pharmacologie de l'Université McGill. Il a complété sa formation postdoctorale à Harvard, sous la supervision du Dr Lois Smith. Le Dr Joyal a reçu une prestigieuse bourse de carrière du Burroughs Wellcome Fund et ses travaux de recherche sont financés par des subventions du CRSNG et des IRSC.
