Congratulations to our PhD Trainee, Dr. Katherine Nelson from Pediatrics, Palliative Care/Child Health Evaluative Sciences Program (Supervisor: Dr. Astrid Guttmann) on receiving the prestigious 29th Annual Andrew Sass-Kortsak Award. The award is given annually to honor the late Dr. Andrew Sass-Kortsak, a physician, scientist, and a teacher who worked at SickKids for 37 years. The award winners were selected based on publications, research projects, and contributions to their Programs and the Research Institute. In addition to winning the award of $2,500 and a commemorative plaque, Drs. Nelson will present the Andrew Sass-Kortsak Memorial Lecture in the Robert B. Salter Auditorium at the PGCRL on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. entitled, “Facts, Feelings, and Framing: Survival and Surgical Interventions in Trisomy 13 and 18”.
