BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Sumit Gupta is a staff oncologist and Clinician Investigator at the Hospital for Sick Children. After finishing his clinical fellowship, he pursued a PhD in Clinical Epidemiology during which he was supported by awards from both CIHR and CCHCSP. His current lines of investigation include health services research that identifies and improves the outcomes for vulnerable subgroups of children with cancer, clinical trials in acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL), and health policy and economics research aimed at improving outcomes for children with cancer in low- and middle-income countries. He sits on the ALL committee of the Children’s Oncology Group, and is the co-chair of the next standard risk ALL trial, expected to recruit over 5,000 patients from across North America. He is the associate chair of the Lancet Oncology Commission on Sustainable Paediatric Chair. He currently holds grant funding from numerous bodies including Alex’s Lemonade Stand, the Canadian Cancer Society Research Institute, and CIHR. He is very excited to be re-joining the CCHCSP family!
