Biography

Dr. Christopher Waterhouse received his BSc from the University of New Brunswick, and then studied mucosal immunology in the laboratory of Dr. Andrew Stadnyk, receiving a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from Dalhousie University. He completed his MD at Dalhousie as well, and finished his residency in Paediatrics at the Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary, Alberta. Chris is currently completing a fellowship in Paediatric Gastroenterology at the Alberta Children’s Hospital, and performs research in the laboratory of Dr. Paul Kubes at the University of Calgary. He remains interested in mucosal immunology, and is focusing on intracellular signaling pathways important for bacterial recognition within the intestine. Better understanding of how these pathways alter inflammatory responses may lead to new therapies for children with inflammatory bowel diseases. Chris is married to Dr. Amy Waterhouse and they have two children, Alexander and Madeline.
