Biography

Karen Hurtubise is a physiotherapist currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Sherbrooke with the support of a CIHR-Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship. Karen received a Master of Rehabilitation Science from the University of British Columbia (2009) and completed her Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy (1992) at the University of Ottawa. Karen has practiced as a pediatric physiotherapist, and has fulfilled the positions of a physiotherapy clinical leader, a program coordinator, a project manager and an assistant manager. Her clinical research interests have focused on family centered care, adult learning, inter-professional and inter-agency collaboration, quality improvement and the development, implementation and evaluation of new service models and rehabilitation programs that support of youth with chronic pain and disabilities and their families. With her advisors, Dr. Chantal Camden and Dr. Astrid Brousselle, Karen will evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of an intensive pain rehabilitation program for youth with chronic pain using a participatory research approach.
