Biography

A physiotherapist for 25 years, Dr. Lisa Rivard has been involved in clinical, research, and academic activities related to child development, health, and disability, with a particular passion for understanding children with developmental coordination disorder (DCD). In 2011, Lisa received a Career Enhancement Program Award to support her doctoral research in the School of Rehabilitation Science and CanChild Centre for Childhood Disability Research at McMaster University. Using innovative eye tracking methods, her research focused on understanding the contribution of selective visual attention to motor performance in children with DCD. Lisa is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Family Medicine at McMaster University, where she joined the Infant and Child Health (INCH) Lab in 2015. Her current research interests include using eye tracking to study the effectiveness of attentional cueing within cognitive interventions for children with DCD, examination of the measurement properties of clinical screening and assessment tools used with this population, and early identification processes for young children with potential developmental delay.
